The same forms can express a guess
Nora wird gerade im Zug sitzen. can mean “Nora is probably on the train now,” not only a later prediction. Nora wird die Nachricht schon gelesen haben. can infer an earlier reading. Gerade, schon, wohl and the surrounding conversation help identify the intended time and interpretation. An assumption is not verified knowledge.
Check the construction in context
Choose your answer before opening the explanation. Check the whole phrase as well as the form.
7. The clock shows noon: Er wird jetzt Mittagspause machen. Future only?
No. With jetzt, it naturally expresses an assumption about his current break.
Build a supposition from the intended time
First decide whether you are guessing about now or about an earlier event. For a current situation, conjugate werden and leave the other verb in the infinitive. For an earlier event, use Partizip II plus haben or sein after werden. The auxiliary follows the ordinary perfect construction. Context supports the interpretation; wohl does not assign a fixed probability.
Two worked examples
Das Licht in Leas Büro brennt noch. Sie wird wohl noch arbeiten. The speaker infers that Lea is working now. This does not confirm what she is doing.
Die Schuhe stehen schon im Flur. Karim wird bereits nach Hause gekommen sein. The guess concerns a prior arrival. Kommen takes sein in the perfect infinitive gekommen sein.
Apply the pattern
Additional check 1. You do not know where Lea is right now. Make a supposition with werden and wohl: Lea / jetzt / im Zug / sitzen.
Lea wird jetzt wohl im Zug sitzen. Wird is finite; sitzen remains an infinitive. Jetzt makes the current reference explicit.
Additional check 2. It is six. You suspect Karim arrived earlier. Complete: Karim wird bereits angekommen __. Choose haben or sein.
Karim wird bereits angekommen sein. Ankommen forms its perfect with sein. The arrival is earlier than the present supposition.
Additional check 3. The timetable concerns tomorrow: Morgen wird Lea um acht anfangen. Must this be a guess about what Lea is doing now?
No. Here the statement refers to tomorrow. The same werden construction can have a future reference. Read the time expression and the surrounding message rather than treating werden as a single-purpose signal.
