Practise a pattern in more than one way.

Try a gap, a correction and a word-order task on the A2 dative. The greeting sample separately explores Sie and du.

Feedback that explains the choice

A wrong answer can point to a useful contrast. Heißt belongs with du; heiße belongs with ich. Check the explanation, clear the answer and try again. A completed sample records interaction, not mastery.

Practise, then reapply

The app offers different exercise formats according to topic and level. Return to the scenario to give the correct pattern a purpose. The samples below are website adaptations, not the full exercise bank or an examination.

Try three ways to practise the dative. These local samples come from verified A2 exercises; your answers are not saved to an account.

A2 · Fill the gap

A destination in the dative

Complete the gap with the preposition and article for die Arbeit.

Ich fahre jeden Tag _______ Arbeit.

A hint

The preposition zu takes the dative. Die becomes der; zu der can contract to zur.

Read the answer and explanation

zur

Correct: Ich fahre jeden Tag zur Arbeit. Zur combines zu and the dative article der.

A2 · Correct the sentence

Correct the ending after mit

Rewrite the sentence with the correct form of mein.

Ich komme mit mein Bruder.

A hint

Mit takes the dative. For the masculine noun Bruder, mein becomes meinem.

Read the answer and explanation

Ich komme mit meinem Bruder.

Correct: Ich komme mit meinem Bruder. The dative ending -em belongs on meinem after mit.

A2 · Put the words in order

Build a sentence about your journey

Start with Ich and arrange every word to say that you go to university by bus.

Ich / fahre / mit / dem / Bus / zur / Uni / .

Tap or use the keyboard to add words. Edit your answer directly or choose Try again to clear it.

A hint

Put fahre after Ich. Keep mit dem Bus together, then add the destination zur Uni.

Read the answer and explanation

Ich fahre mit dem Bus zur Uni.

Correct: Ich fahre mit dem Bus zur Uni. Mit dem Bus names the means of transport; zur Uni names the destination.
