A German App for Conversation and Grammar Practice
Practise German conversation and grammar together. Try Lingeva’s connected lesson and compare language support, Free learning and Premium access.
If you want to practise German conversation and grammar together, look for a path that lets you understand a phrase, change it and use it in a reply. A long catalogue of rules or conversations alone does not tell you how those activities connect. This page gives you a practical way to evaluate that connection, including an example you can try before subscribing.
What should a conversation and grammar app help you do?
Use the same short task to assess an app. Can you explain why a sentence works and then produce a different sentence for the same situation?
| What to check | A useful test |
|---|---|
| A reason to speak | Start with a situation you may need: greeting a neighbour, asking a question or arranging a meeting. |
| An explanation connected to the sentence | Find the rule behind the actual phrase rather than a separate rule with no example. |
| Practice beyond recognition | Change a person, a time or a detail; then answer without simply copying the model. |
| Clear access and feedback | Check which tasks are included, how feedback works, and whether recording or AI practice needs a paid plan. |
Try the connection: a polite introduction
Practise choosing the form of address, then change the question yourself.
| Situation | German question | What changes? |
|---|---|---|
| A polite first meeting | Wie heißen Sie? | Formal Sie uses heißen in this question. |
| A conversation where du is appropriate | Wie heißt du? | With du, the verb form is heißt. |
Choose Sie or du according to the relationship and setting. In these questions, Wie is followed by the conjugated verb; the subject comes next. Practise the choice and the word order together instead of memorising a verb ending on its own.
Fill the gap for a polite first meeting: Wie ___ Sie? Say the complete question before checking.
Check the question and explanation
Wie heißen Sie? → Wie heißt du?
The answer is heißen: Wie heißen Sie? Now switch to du and say Wie heißt du? This is a practice choice, not a placement test.
How does Lingeva connect the activities?
One verified example starts in the Greeting someone scenario. Its preparation screen links to Personal Pronouns & Sie / du, and that grammar topic links to related exercises. After the exercise, you return to scenario preparation to apply the pattern again. Connections vary by topic.
- Read the situation and its short exchange.
- Open the linked grammar explanation.
- Practise the relevant pattern in the exercises.
- Return to the situation and change one detail in your reply.
The website sample can be explored without creating an account. It is an adapted, limited learning example: it does not save progress to an app account, start an AI session or resume a live conversation.
When might this approach fit your learning?
Lingeva may suit you if you want self-directed German practice and prefer moving from an everyday situation to its grammar and exercises. Its app interface and explanations are available in English and Vietnamese; German is the language you practise.
- You want to practise making replies, not only recognising answers.
- You want a grammar explanation you can relate to an example.
- You can review automated feedback critically and return to difficult phrases.
- You want to choose between core practice and additional Premium features.
Choose according to your needs. The app does not provide a personal human teacher, an official exam certificate or a guarantee of progress. AI feedback can be mistaken, and an automated score is not a complete assessment of your German. Ask a qualified teacher when an explanation or correction remains unclear.
Which practice is Free and which needs Premium?
| Access | Included scope |
|---|---|
| Free | Core A1–B1 lessons, Scenarios, vocabulary, grammar and Grammar Drills. |
| Premium | All AI Speaking and pronunciation practice within the plan allowances; B2–C1 learning content; all Exam Prep A1–C1, including mock exams and Strategy Tests. |
Reading a scenario and starting an AI conversation are different activities. AI Speaking is Premium at every level. Free Conversation is the name of open-ended conversation practice, not access through the Free plan.
Compare plans, then subscribe inside the iPhone or Android app through Apple or Google. Store prices, renewal terms, trial eligibility and usage allowances apply; web subscription sales are unavailable.
Questions to ask before choosing a plan
Can I try the method before paying?
Yes. The linked public greeting lesson demonstrates a small scenario, grammar and exercise path. In the app, Free core learning covers A1–B1. A Premium trial is only available where your store, account and selected plan qualify.
Does every scenario link to every feature?
No. Links and practice options vary by topic. The public greeting example demonstrates one specific path; it is not a promise of the same links in every scenario.
Can this tell me which app is best?
It gives you selection criteria and a sample of Lingeva’s approach. It is not an independent ranking or a comparison based on testing every competing app. Try the task and assess whether the explanations, language and practice fit you.
