Start with what you mean
Morgen bespreche ich den Entwurf. is already a future plan: morgen supplies the time. You do not have to add werden merely because English would use will or going to. Ich werde den Entwurf morgen besprechen. can announce the intention or prediction more explicitly. Neither tense alone proves how certain a plan is.
Build Futur I with present forms of werden
Only werden agrees with the subject. Keep the other verb in the infinitive without zu. The finite verb follows the normal main-clause rule; the infinitive closes the verbal bracket: Nach der Pause werden wir weiterarbeiten.. One opening phrase counts as one position, even if it contains several words.
| Subject | werden | Futur I |
|---|---|---|
| ich | werde | ich werde planen |
| du | wirst | du wirst planen |
| er / sie / es | wird | sie wird planen |
| wir | werden | wir werden planen |
| ihr | werdet | ihr werdet planen |
| sie / Sie | werden | Sie werden planen |
Questions and subordinate clauses
A yes/no question starts with werden: Wirst du den Entwurf ändern? A question word comes first when present: Wann wirst du den Entwurf ändern? In an ordinary weil or dass clause, the finite werden comes after the infinitive: Ich hoffe, dass du den Entwurf ändern wirst..
Do not insert a second finite form: wir werden planen, not wir werden planen wir or wir werden planen werden. Add a modal only when its extra meaning is intended; longer verb clusters require their own ordering rules.
Recognize other uses of werden
Der Plan wird klarer. describes a change: the plan becomes clearer. Der Plan wird überarbeitet. is passive: someone revises it. Nora wird den Plan überarbeiten. is Futur I. Look at the whole construction rather than translating every wird as will. A passive future can contain both constructions, but it is a separate next step.
Check the construction in context
Choose your answer before opening the explanation. Check the whole phrase as well as the form.
1. Give a natural future plan with Präsens: morgen / wir / starten.
Morgen starten wir. Morgen supplies the future reference; werden is not required.
2. Complete: Du ___ den Plan prüfen. (Futur I)
Du wirst den Plan prüfen. The second-person form is wirst; prüfen remains an infinitive.
3. Make a yes/no question: Ihr werdet teilnehmen.
Werdet ihr teilnehmen? The finite verb comes first; the prefix stays with the infinitive.
4. Complete the dass clause: dass / wir / morgen / anfangen / werden.
dass wir morgen anfangen werden. In this subordinate clause, the finite auxiliary follows the infinitive.
8. Classify Die Datei wird gespeichert..
It is present passive: wird + participle. Futur I would use an infinitive, such as Ich werde die Datei speichern..

Questions about this topic
Must every future event use werden?
No. Präsens with a clear future context is normal German. Futur I is an available construction, not a mandatory translation of English will.
